FX Home Stretch: Stormy Tempest Progress Update

I’ve still got about a dozen shots left to finish. I see no reason why I won’t complete them tomorrow. Today I did most of the complicated stuff, like the “bullets and bracelets” scene. It’s a pretty furious battle. One 3 second shot contained over 35 individual elements (many little things like incoming laser beams, reflected laser beams, scorch marks, smoke, deflection sparks, Stormy’s wrist glow, etc…). None of it is complicated FX work, but when you are timing and placing and compositing 35 seperate elements it’s going to suck up some time. It’s difficult to tell how long one shot is actually going to take until you start working on it. This has still been a cakewalk compared to recent projects though.

Once FX are done that still leaves the audio correction, sound fx, soundtracking and final rendering, so if I had to guess right now I’m thinking it might be done Sunday or Monday. Who knows?

The same shot from two days ago... now kicked up a notch.
