The adult sci-fi anthology series Metal Hurlant is better known as “Heavy Metal” here in the States. Several episodes of a TV series are currently in various stages of development, filming and post-production. This project has been in development for quite sometime. I remember first catching a glimpse of it on Kickstarter over a year ago when they released this trailer…

I am particularly excited to see the 4th episode titled “Master of Destiny” starring model Kelly Brook (from Piranha 3D and Survival Island) and Joe Flanigan (Colonel John Sheppard from Stargate: Atlantis). There will apparently be comic books based on the film adaptation (which was inspired by a comic originally… weird).

There is still no indication of when any of this might be complete and distributed, but I’ve been following the production for quite some time and I’ll certainly post an update here when something significant develops.

Metal Hurlant #10 features a story with the title “Master of Destiny”, but I don’t have the issue and I do not know if the TV episode is at all related to the story in the comic, which is described thusly: “Alexandro Jodorowsky (The Metabarons), partnered with artist Adi Granov, weaves a tale of destiny and love among the stars in THE MASTERS OF DESTINY.” That’s fairly vague. No idea how a sexy thief in a catsuit and turtle-headed beings play a part in that… but it’s Heavy Metal, so who knows?

I’m pretty sure that they have yet to launch an official site for the project. The best place for updates and more photos seems to be their facebook page.
