Time to regroup and reassess! On January 2nd of this year I posted a list over on the AC Comics website outlining our intended projects for 2012. I’ll copy the list here, along with some progress notes, so that we can see where we stand.
As the Joker might say: Here… we…. GO!
- “Stormy Tempest Season 2: Prisoner in the Present”
Wow! That’s Season 2, Episode 2. That seems like ages ago! We released this project during the last week of February. This episode is easily the lowest-selling Stormy Tempest episode so far, which is a shame since it features some really excellent performances by the entire cast, plus the introduction of Aliya Hayes as soon-to-be-ubergirl Lacey Slater, plus Stormy Tempest in psychological terror while stripped of her costume… plus Nicola Rae’s side-boob! - “Stormy Tempest Season 2: Fight for the Future (Possibly another untitled episode will slip into Stormy Season 2 also)”
At that time we didn’t know if Season 2 would be 3 or 4 episodes long. It turned out to be 4. The “untitled episode” would become the now-classic and extremely popular Stormy Tempest: Women of Tomorrow, our first episode focusing on displays of strength and superpowers. WOT came out in early April and its success was a heavy influence on the not-yet-released Stormy Tempest Season 4, guest-starring Astra. Stormy Tempest: Fight for the Future was then used as the title for the Season 2 finale, which came out at the end of May. FFTF had almost as many special FX shots as WOT, and the combination of the two back-to-back nearly killed me. If you’re looking for an awesome display of superheroine firepower you can’t go wrong with either of the above.
- “Stormy Tempest Season 3: Currently planned as 3 -4 episodes”
Season 3 has been cooking right along thanks to an emphasis on physical combat and practical FX. Stormy Tempest: The Sleeper Strikes came out in mid-July, followed by Stormy Tempest: Caress of the Moss Monster at the very end of July. Stormy Tempest: Velocity Blaze was just released (and there was much rejoicing), and Stormy Tempest: Lies and Allies will conclude Season 4 in early October (I think). In Season 3 we experimented with the ”Damsel in Distress” extended edition format, which has been very popular. This editing style was actually developed for the Angel Avengers series, so ironically the peril fans can thank the girlpower fans for this new format.
We intend to offer more DID extended cuts in the future when the story allows for it.
- “Angel Avengers 03: Femme Fatales (the big Joel Wynkoop episode)”
This one came out at the end of January. Angel Avengers 03: Femme Fatales basically establishes the foundation for the Angel Avengers storyline… and from a filmmaking standpoint we did a lot of experimenting with camera angles and editing styles. These experiments would later payoff as we refined the techniques for the MetalGypsy episodes and Stormy’s Season 3. I think this episode is where the Angels start to really hit their stride.
- “Angel Avengers 04 – 06: Featuring MetalGypsy”
MetalGypsy was planned to be a four episode series of 4 to 6 minute chapters, but we ended up with a very short filming day and were only able to film 3 of the 4 chapters. We released Angel Avengers 04: MetalGypsy in late March. While it was extremely popular we received a great deal of feedback about the short runtime. Apparently I should have had MetalGypsy do 4 minutes of stretching and calisthenics before the start of the fighting and no one would have complained (Snap! Oh no he di’int!
). We then combined the two remaining MetalGypsy chapters into one big finale. Angel Avengers 05: Abducted Angel came out in mid-June and went on to become the most popular Angel Avengers release so far. There is no AA06… yet… but we’ll hopefully be filming more Angels episodes soon now that it’s starting to cool off.
- “Angel Avengers 07 – ???: (we’re hoping to shoot a few more episodes this winter before it gets too hot for catsuits in Florida)”
See above. We’ll likely film more Angels soon and the next release will be AA06 (though we usually film several in one day).
- “Ghost of Garganta : the next installment atleast, hopefully the one after that as well”
Bill has his hands full running AC Comics while cranking out literally thousands of comic book pages per year; he works on Ghost of Garganta in his non-existent spare time. As you can see above, I’ve been fairly busy myself. There WILL be a Ghost of Garganta release this year though. We will make that happen. Click here to check out some giantess screenshots and learn a little more about this project. It’s a drive-in era, B-movie homage and NOT just for giantess fans.
- “And possibly a new Blue Bulleteer project”
I would still classify this as “possible” for this year… though early next year seems more likely. But who knows?!?!
So there you have it! Not too bad, and we’ve still got a few months left!
There are a few projects that are also now on the table that we hadn’t even thought of back in January when this list was made.
- Stormy Tempest Season 4: Guest starring Astra and Astron:
We ended up filming this in late April when Nicola Rae made a last-minute trip to Florida. Since we’ve cranked out Stormy’s Season 3 so quickly, it now seems VERY likely that atleast some of these Season 4 episodes will be released this year. It’s not yet edited and there are still some pickup shots to do, but if I had to guess I think it will breakdown into 3 episodes. There are going to be some wicked superpowered catfights coming out soon.
- “Easy Pickins” free short film:
We made a quick short film at night to test out the capabilities of our new equipment with a new actress named Cat Locicero. Cat was excellent and a lot of fun. I haven’t been able to see the footage myself, so I’m eager to see this also. Bill has the entire thing ready to go, except for one final FX shot that I will do hopefully later this week. It’s coming coon.
- Something this fall with Cat LoCicero:
Cat was great and we really want to work with her again. Hopefully we’ll put something together soon with an eye towards releasing it quickly. Possibly Angel Avengers. Possibly something new with a prehistoric cavegirl-theme.
- Something this fall with Heather and Ashley:
Heather and Ashley are good friends… so I really want to see them beat the crap out of each other.
Possibly Angel Avengers. Possibly something prehistoric. Possibly Astra versus Dutchess Sadistica in a “prequel” to Stormy Tempest: Season 4. This would be released before the end of the year if we can get it filmed.
- Behind-the-scenes fundraiser series:
Very soon we will kick off a series of behind-the-scenes videos and photo releases. I think there will be three sets between now and the end of the year. The funds generated from these releases will be set aside to support and suppliment our filming in January, which is going to be monumental (more on that tomorrow).
I’ll be back tomorrow with some thoughts on upcoming projects in 2013!
