Right now I’ve assembled a rough cut with preliminary FX for GHOST OF GARGANTA PT. 2, the first of several sequels to The Ghost of Garganta: The Giantess Rises. Running time is at 22 minutes not counting end titles.
In this segment Dr. Farb actually encounters the Alien space ship and finds a huge footprint, which is positive evidence of the return of Garganta (Brenna Barry). The now-solid and hungry “Ghost” of Garganta raids a local dairy and drains a milk tanker, then crushes a complaining dairy man with the emptied truck. After Sheriff Pudwell investigates, Action 5 newsman Ernie Shadowsky alarms the public with sensationalistic footage of the giant woman. Dr. Frab tracks down Garganta and convinces the giantess that he can help her elude the authorities. Farb then transports her to Farb Labs in a semi trailer truck. All of this is being observed by the Alien who watches on his ship’s viewscreen. He seems to be having great fun at the expense of unsuspecting humans. Meanwhile Dharma (Nicola Rae) has a nightmare which foretells the Coming of Colossa.
There are many difficult clips to assemble in this film as almost every shot is a special effect. Having Chris Casteel construct convincing miniatures was a big asset to the production. He built a bang on milk tanker to scale and rigged it so that milk would gush out and pour down into Brenna Barry’s mouth. Chris also constructed the Alien Creature (Solopticus) based on my old design from the 1960′s. The original Solopticus was a finalist in a FAMOUS MONSTERS make-up contest!
In Ernie’s broadcast we are able to show viewers much of the B&W footage from AMAZING COLOSSAL WOMAN in full color.
I’ll be back with more entries as the editing progresses.
